Vietnam successfully cultured and isolated the new coronavirus

According to information from the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, the Institute has successfully cultured and isolated a new strain of coronavirus (nCoV) in the laboratory.

This successful culture will facilitate rapid testing of cases of nCoV infection and suspected infection. With this, every day in Vietnam will be able to test thousands of specimens in case of need. 

Currently, Vietnam has over 1000 people returning from China and nearly 500 people who have been in close contact with people infected with nCoV are being isolated, monitored, monitored and waiting for test results.

This will be the premise for future research and development of vaccines against this virus and also help to provide more effective preventive measures.

The Ministry of Health said that up to now, Vietnam still ensures the supply of enough biologicals for testing.

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long on the afternoon of February 5 said that the fastest testing method for the new coronavirus now takes 5.5-9.8 hours. "Currently, Vietnam has enough capacity to test for the new coronavirus. The laboratories are operating at full capacity to return the results as soon as possible," said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long.
