After Sharp, Japan's Kyocera decided to move its factory to Vietnam to avoid taxes
(VNF) - In order to avoid the tariffs that the US will apply to $300 billion of Chinese goods from September 1, Japan's Kyocera will move the production of photocopiers and multifunction printers for the US market from China to Vietnam.


Kyocera will move the factory to Vietnam in March 2020.
Kyocera Chairman Hideo Tanimoto told reporters: "We will swap production between Chinese facilities and Vietnamese facilities."

Kyocera's decision was announced shortly after US President Donald Trump announced the imposition of a fourth round of tariffs on Chinese goods. The cost of Kyocera's move could be in the billions of yen.
Multifunction printers made in China are mainly supplied to the US market, while those made in Vietnam are usually reserved for the European market.
Multifunction printers are part of a $300 billion group of goods exported from China to the US, which will be subject to a 10% tariff on September 1, 2019.
According to the chairman of Kyocera: "If the United States realizes the fourth round of tariffs on China, the Chinese economy will be severely affected by the economic slowdown."
